Mentors Guide You

The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9
Each of us has the Spirit of the Lord in us. The Spirit of God is given to us to help us learn and grow, to help us reflect His love, in truth, to all those around us. But God also provides mentors and teachers. God provides leaders for His family so that we may learn the right way to walk, the right way to reflect the love of God.
Some will say that we should only look to Christ as our example, not people. That is so true, but what you need to see is that Christ is in us, just as we are in Him. We are one. (John 17:21) Everything you say and do should reflect God’s love. People should be able to look at you as a mentor, an example setter.
The truth is if you do not see the love of God through me, then I am not doing as I should be and I need to make changes. The Bible teaches us that we should examine ourselves; we should test ourselves to make sure we are walking in accordance with God’s word. Paul even asked the question, do you not recognize that Jesus is in you.
Even at different levels of faith, whether new born or mature, we should still be reflecting love. You need to put the past behind and take a step of faith and walk as Christ walked. God will bless you greatly for putting forth the effort, because following His word is a form of worship. You are honoring God by your actions and your words.
You can’t walk unless you put one foot forward, take that step today.
Make it your goal to examine yourself, correct what needs to be corrected, become a mentor, a leader and an example setter. Don’t settle to be second best, only settle for the best and say, just as Paul said “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me!”
