My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; for if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; if you seek her as a silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5
As was spoken through the prophet Ezekiel, “Thus says the Lord GOD.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse.’”
God doesn’t want to be hidden to you, but He doesn’t want to force Himself on you either. He waits until you desire to learn and then He gives you understanding.
He has given us the Bible as our basic instruction book and He has given us teachers to help us understand, but we must be willing to learn. You must have an open heart and a true desire to learn and understand what the Lord is saying. The Lord wants more than anything to pour His understanding on you, but if you don’t have the heart to receive it, it will be for naught.
But if you have a true desire to learn, if you will have an open heart to receive His word and will hold tight to what you are given and follow what it says, then God will open the floodgates for you and He will fill you full with His knowledge and wisdom.
