Wash That Mouth

But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Colossians 3:8

God calls us to always try to be reflections of His awesome love. Though we can never be exactly like Him, we can be reflections by following His teachings, His words, and His truth. The word of God says we are to love God and our neighbor.

To be reflections of love, you will need to be patient, kind and not act unbecomingly. But to reflect love you will also NOT allow yourself to be provoked (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

It can be extremely difficult to remain controlled at times, but we must always at least try to do the best we can.

The best starting point is by allowing the words we speak be reflections of what is truly in our heart. If you have the love of God in your heart, you will speak words that encourage others to strive to do better and you will not tear them down and make them feel as though they are worthless mistakes.

God is continually putting on my heart to major things this year.

1). The words we speak have power
2). The words we speak reflect what is in our heart

When the going gets to be too difficult, it is time to take a five minute break and ask God to help you be controlled and help you through the circumstance. Ask God to give you the words to help the other person reach for something higher. Ask God to allow you to be a good, true and honest reflection of His love and mercy.

Now clean up your mouth and speak words of encouragement.

God will reward you for a “Job Well Done”!
