For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend; so that he does not forsake the fear of the Almighty. Job 6:14
When Job was in despair and needed a true friend. What he found was those he called friends actually were just people he knew, but couldn’t trust. He found that he could not depend on them. They discouraged him and made him feel as if he were acting wickedly.
Proverbs 18:24 says there is a friend who is closer than a brother. That friend is Jesus; He is your best friend. But a person who has the Lord reigning in their hearts can be that friend also. They will give you a shoulder to lean on when you are feeling down, they will help you to stay strong when you feel weak, they lead and guide you when you feel lost, they will help you to stay focused on the Lord so you do not wander off the straight and narrow path. They will shower you with the love of God so you may feel refreshed.
There are very few, maybe only one, who you can trust to be this friend, but when they are placed in your path, do not have distrust, but accept the gift God has placed in your life to help you and encourage you.
