Prepare The Way

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of David His servant–As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from of old–Salvation FROM OUR ENEMIES, And FROM THE HAND OF ALL WHO HATE US; to show mercy toward our fathers, and to remember His holy covenant, the oath which He swore to Abraham our father, to grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all our days.

“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS; to give to His people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the Sunrise from on high will visit us, TO SHINE UPON THOSE WHO SIT IN DARKNESS AND THE SHADOW OF DEATH, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:68-79

Many know this as the Benedictus. It is a prophesy spoken by the father of John the Baptist, Zacharias, announcing the coming of our Messiah, Jesus. We may not know when, but Jesus will come again and God will let His people know before He does.

Jesus is our horn of salvation; He is the way, the truth and the life. God, in his abounding mercy, has given us the greatest gift of love ever, He has offered us life. God has promised to give us life eternal, if we choose to accept it.

How can we not go forth and share this awesome gift with those who live in darkness. Go forth and be a guiding light! Share the love that God has given you; the gift of forgiveness, the gift of salvation. Help those who are lost to be found.

And remember, love is patient, is not provoked and endures all things. Let the Lord’s love show through your actions. If you look at Jesus as your example, Jesus never forced Himself on anyone. He was patient and kind, guiding and directing, showing people the truth by his actions.

All you need to do is let God guide your words and just share the love – a gentle nudge here, a gentle nudge there. If God sees that a person needs more than a gentle nudge, He will make sure it happens.

So go forth, let God’s love shine through you so bright that people can not help but see the truth!
