Oh the beautiful harmony of wine glasses. Wine glasses come in many sizes and shapes, each one will make a noise when you run a wet finger around the rim. Adding water to the glass will make the sound get deeper. When you take many glasses of different sizes, shapes and levels of water and put them all together, they can actually become like an orchestra and you make beautiful music with them. But in order to reach that perfect harmonious sound you have to have the right size glasses with just the right amount of water.
People are like this also. We each have our own unique size and shape and we each make our own unique sounds. We each have our own Spirit and we each walk in a different way. But just as those wine glasses, we each get a little “out of kilter”. We all have bad days, we all get tired, stressed, bogged down, overloaded and just plain sick of bad attitudes. Worries about money, family, and health can all put you in a bad mood and can cause you worries and increase your stress level and just plain make you grumpy.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9
We are to strive to put aside the little faults of others, and be kindhearted towards them. We are to turn the other cheek. Yes it hurts, but that pain is only temporary. The pain of not forgiving and moving on lasts much longer.
For if you forgive others for their transgressions, you heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. Matthew 6:14-15
One of the things that God has taught me is that it is important to maintain the integrity of God’s love. In order to be a true reflection of the Lord, you cannot be the one to cause the problems. It is a choice you make. God gave you the ability to have self-control.
So you’re having a bad day you say… so what! Maybe that other person is too. Does that make it right for you to treat them poorly? Absolutely NOT! In fact, it is more important, as a follower of Christ that you treat them with kindness and compassion in order to help them get past whatever is going on. You need to put yourself on the cross and show the truth about why Christ died. You need to maintain the integrity of the cross and learn to be in harmony
