But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:36-37
Jesus teaches us that the words we speak come from the heart (Matthew 15:18). Our words are a reflection of who we are. If you have the love of God in your heart, your words will be forgiving, encouraging, uplifting, loving and truthful.
Gossip, lies, deceit and condemnation are not the way of God. Our God is a God of love. He is understanding, patient, forgiving and kind. Yes, He disciplines, but it is so you may learn and move forward, it is not out of condemnation. God does not condemn people, people condemn themselves.
God knows your heart, now its time to know your own heart. Take a moment and reflect on your words and actions. Each day, examine yourself and if you have done wrong, seek forgiveness, learn from it and do the best you can to not do it again.
Our God is a loving God and we are called to be a reflection of Him. Don’t put up false reflections, but let your words reflect who you are in truth…a child of the living God.
