Remain Steadfast

Today was a day of chaotic peace. I kept thinking of stability when it seemed like everything was going topsy turvy.

When I read this scripture in Psalms it spoke to me saying, “stay focused on God and sing praises to him and everything will be just fine.”

My Heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises! Psalm 57:7

The word steadfast in Hebrew is Kuwn(koon) and it means to be firm, be stable, be established

When you establish something you make it firm or stable: you introduce it and cause it to grow and multiply.

God established the earth. Every person, good or bad, is on this earth because God created that person.

One of the things people tend to do when things start going awry is to get into a rut and they forget to ask God for help. But if we stand firm and focus on what the Lord’s word says about our situation and we sing praises to him, we will come out of that rut and start being joyful and our problems just seem to diminish.

I am not one to really watch TV, but I caught a movie on when I turned it on to get the weather report. I missed the very beginning of it, but it was about a man who grew up untouched by the outside world, he was a gardener for the man whose house he lived in. When the old man died and the gardener had to go into the outside world, the only way he knew how to handle it was the way he handled the garden and one of the answers he gave to the troubled times was the seasons and that there are times when we will have plenty (spring/summer), and there will be times when we have little (fall/winter). One of best scenes in the whole movie was at the end, when the gardener walked on water.

The book of Ecclesiastes teaches us this very thing, that there are times for things to happen.

There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven –

A time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to weekp and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; a time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

We each will go through these seasons in our own way. No two will be alike because we are unique as God has made each of us. But the thing that should be the same is how we deal with the changes. Focus on the Lord and sing praises to Him and everything will be alright. God is ever faithful, no matter what season we are in.
