You shall have just balances, a just ephah and a just bath. Ezekiel 45:10
When I saw this I laughed and wondered “Why would God want you to have a just bath?”
I realized I probably wasn’t understanding this the way the Lord wanted me to. So I looked the word up and wanted to share it will you.
The actual definition of the word is a unit of liquid measure, equal to dry measure ephah (about 9 imperial gallons or 40 litres, rabbinical writings give sizes of one-half this amount)
A bath as a measure of liquid makes much more sense than a washing bath does. Balances are scales and ephah is a dry measure and bath is a liquid measure. Now looking at it I know what the Lord is telling us here.
We are to have balance. Not just with things that you can actually weigh and measure out, but each part of our life here on earth is to have balance. We need to have balance in everything we do, no matter what it is. To be unbalanced would be to spend so much time in any activity that it takes time away from doing other things.
In thinking about this I wondered if you spent all your time with God and not doing anything else if God would still consider this unbalanced.
The truth is God wants you to give equal time to all things. God is with you all the time and you can serve him all the time in a much better way if you have balance. You need human interaction, you need to be out there doing the work God has called you to do. You by yourself would only be a part of a body. It would not work if you are not joined with the rest of the body.
